ABOUT US
RAFA has initiated a project to mentor Aboriginal students by regular telephone contact. The objective of mentoring is to encourage and assist students to complete education.
The Rwandan Australian Friendship Association Inc. is a not for profit charity set up to support survivors of the 1994 Tutsi genocide in Rwanda. Our Associatiion markets coffee under the label Rwanda Coffee Club www.rwandancoffeeclub.org and proceeds have been used to buy cows for Survivors in Rwanda. Over 100 cows have been given over the past four years.
The Rwandan community in Hobart is giving back to Australia having arrived here as refugees over a decade ago.
Our Rwandan members and their Australian friends in RAFA mainly live in Hobart and surrounding districts. We all feel a strong sense of support for our Indigenous population and are moved to assist in closing the gap which presently exists between indigenous and non indigenous Australians.
Proceeds of sales of Rwandan Coffee Club coffee are funding the Phone Partners pilot project.
